EDUCATION WORK
The Mermaid Trio are committed to music education and see this as vital in enhancing the listening experience for regular concertgoers and creating an audience for the future.
The Trio are experienced in presenting interactive workshops with children from nursery to Advanced Higher level, and have worked with students at Glasgow University Music Department.
For younger children workshops can take the form of an interactive concert, including an introduction to the instruments and voice, and provide a chance to make music alongside the performers. Workshops can be themed if suitable.
For secondary school pupils The Mermaid Trio use the diversity of their instrumentation and repertoire to perform samples and discuss curriculum concepts, and features of style, composer and period as relevant for the appropriate age group / level. Alternatively, the trio would be happy to perform and advise on student inventions or conduct an informal masterclass for instrumentalists and vocalists.
Education workshops are flexible in duration and can be adapted to suit the age-range and number of participants involved. The most successful school workshops arise out of good collaboration between the trio and teachers, ensuring each session is tailor-made to be of maximum benefit and relevance.
